How do I care for my Tanglewood Guitar?2018-11-09T11:24:20+00:00

Usually, the best time for some general guitar maintenance is when you change the strings. This will give you the best access the fretboard and body, without having any strings in the way.

  • Once all of the strings are off, wipe the fretboard down with a lint-free cloth to remove dust.
  • Then, spray with a fretboard conditioner, such as Lemon Oil.
  • Take a clean cloth, and rub away the dirt and grime.
  • Wipe the fretboard with a clean, lint free cloth.

  • Just like the fretboard, firstly remove the dust from the body with a clean, lint free cloth.
  • Apply some guitar polish and wipe clean with a cloth.
  • Any of our Tanglewood dealers will be able to supply you with a suitable guitar polish.

Guitars are most likely to get damaged when not being played – most often due to being stored in an inappropriate way. Obviously, the most common way for a guitar to pick up damage is by being knocked over, or dinged. To reduce the chances of this, you can:

Store it on a guitar stand – this will provide a safe cradle, so that it cannot be easily knocked over.

Keep it in a guitar case – this will prevent it from being damaged.
